Les Paul SG Standard

After watching sales of solidbody guitars drop steadily throughout the late 1950's Gibson washed the slate clean and introduced an entirely new line of solidbody instruments called the SG Series. Featuring an ultra thin, aggressive looking two-horned body, the SG Series addressed two of what Ted McCarty saw as the major issues of the now-retired Les Paul: weight and limited access to the upper treble register. The new body shape of the SG Standard was dramatically lighter than the old Les Paul, and offered access to the entire fretboard.
