After its brief run in 1958 and 1959, the Flying V was retired. Upon its reintroduction in 1966, several notable changes were made in the V, including a larger pickguard, triangular knob configuration, shorter peghead, and, perhaps most importantly, a mahogany body. Despite these radical changes, many players and collectors feel that the late 1960's Flying V represents the peak peiod of production for this model.
